where i am: october 2018
I talked a little bit about my blogging story earlier this week, but I’ve really got some momentum going so this thing is happening! I saw a post via Jenny Komenda about Rachel Hollis’ Last 90 Days challenge. I have always loved goal setting, so these types of challenges are right up my alley. To be totally honest, I didn’t do much research and just ran with my own concept to keep the last 90 days of the year focused. Here are the three things that I want to keep in the forefront of my mind for the rest of the year:
Massive movement on the blog: Putting myself out there is difficult. It’s not even the writing that is nerve wracking, it’s the self-promotion. I know that this type of content will be interesting and of value to people, but getting it out there seems daunting and it’s something I will be working on, especially considering this next goal.
Making money: I find it fascinating that so many people I know aren’t aware that bloggers can make money. Some bloggers are hobbyists and like to share their interests with others in their spare time. Some bloggers make A LOT of money and rightly so since they’ve grown it into a full-scale business. I’m putting it out there that I’d like to start generating some income from this blog by the end of the year. P.S. one thing I’m aware of as I’m writing this is that Americans for some reason see wanting to make money (or even talking about money) as a bad thing. If you fall into this camp, I would highly suggest You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero. It’s funny and real and so interesting to see all the different ways we stop ourselves from making money (and experiencing other things as a result) because of the stories we believe consciously and subconsciously about money.
Manifesting my ideal body: Similar story here for me as the above – it’s a loaded topic. This isn’t something I normally talk about, but I’m hoping my jeans will be a little looser in the coming months. My mentality about this has shifted a lot in the last few months because it’s something I have a lot of resistance to and I’ve been working through it. Basically, I’ve been trying to apply the principles of law of attraction to this area of my life instead of just busting my ass at the gym and it’s been an interesting experience. The good news is, I hope it’s something that others can relate to and hopefully use my trial and error to inspire their own approach. More to come.
We already knocked off one of our October bucket list items, so I’ve included some pictures from our trip to the pumpkin patch for your viewing pleasure. I’m pretty adamant about keeping holidays contained to their own month, so the Halloween decor doesn’t go up until October, and, as per usual, I avoided all the orange and only brought home white and green pumpkins. I’ve really been struggling with the idea of dressing for fall when it’s still 85 degrees outside, but this outfit is a winner because it’s a linen shirt in fallish colors. A few similar options here, here and here.
One block that I’m working on this month is my idea that I don’t have enough physical energy to do everything I want to do. I find that I sometimes tire out easily, especially compared to Sebastian who could work for 18 hours a day, sleep for 6, and be ready to go the next morning. I naturally need more sleep and rest than he does so I’m working on giving myself grace with that while also knowing that I have exactly enough energy to get done what needs to be done – the universe will meet me half way.
I think the general idea for October is switching from a rest and grow state to an act and grow state. It feels like I’ve spent the last few months working through blocks and preparing myself and now I’m starting to run. I want to be very intentional with my time and focus to make sure I’m creating exactly what I want without switching back to the force and hustle mentality. I’m sure that I’ll make this work and I’m excited to see how it all unfolds!
