law of attraction: feeling the feelings
If you’re new around here and haven’t seen the other articles in the LOA series, check that out here. Today I want to talk about feeling the feelings of what you want. When it comes to law of attraction, a lot of people will teach you specific methods of manifesting, but I personally don’t think there’s enough emphasis put on feeling the feelings of what you want and it’s something that’s easy to forget.
What do I mean by feeling the feelings?
Part of the manifesting process is acting as if you already have the thing you want to manifest. If you’re looking to attract a partner, this could look like setting up two bedside tables instead of one which is the physical act of acting as if. But what does it feel like? What does it feel like to have someone to come home to every night? What does it feel like to laugh/cry/dance with your perfect partner?
Why is it important?
Finding those feelings basically gets you in the vibration of already having the thing – and we all know vibration is king. The emotional connection to having what you want is going to be one of the fastest ways to attract it into your life. Because the universe responds to what we’re putting out – if you’re putting out the love that you feel for that wonderful partner in this moment, then that’s exactly what you’ll get back.
So how do you do that?
Well this is always the hard part isn’t it. Sometimes it can be hard to emotionally connect to what we want, especially if we’ve never felt that way before. Maybe we’ve never made more than $100,000 so we can’t know what that would feel like. Maybe we’ve never been in a loving, healthy relationship before, so we’re not sure how it would feel.
Try distilling it down to how you want to feel and then remember a situation where you felt that emotion. For example, if you want to make more money, think about what you want that money to feel like. Let’s say you associate having the money with comfort. You want the money to feel like you can buy things that will make your life easier and more comfortable. Think of a time that someone has given you money or a gift that has made you feel that comfort. Maybe they gifted you a spa day or brought over food to stock your freezer. Maybe they handed you 50 bucks ‘just because.’ You can remember what it felt like to feel well taken care of and comfortable. Get into that feeling and then start thinking about feeling that same way when you receive the money you want to manifest.
Narrowing it down to a feeling/word also makes it easier to connect to it. Instead of thinking about money, you can focus on comfort instead. Attracting more comfort into your life in the form of money may help you circumvent some of the limiting beliefs that can exist around money.
The other upside to this is that experiencing the feeling you’re looking for simply makes you feel better. When you’re seeking comfort and you find a way to feel that comfort without needing the ‘thing’ associated with it, it lessens your need which decreases your resistance to getting it. The feeling can help satisfy you in the short term regardless of your circumstance.
I like to pair my visualizations with making sure I’m feeling those feelings. I think most people assume when you talk about visualizations that you’ll feel whatever is happening in your dream scenario, but intentionally connecting to both the image and the feeling of the thing you want is magic. It’s basically a daydream on crack. You don’t have to take my word for it though - give it a try and see for yourself!
