how to dress up a sweatshirt
A sweatshirt is not most people’s go-to for an outfit to wear around town, but they’re warm and comfortable so why not? I wanted to show how I make a sweatshirt less sloppy and more polished for this reason. I think this outfit combo could even work for an office if you swapped out the jeans for a pair of chinos or dress joggers + used a silk button up instead of a flannel.
For the purpose of dressing up a sweatshirt, I picked my Harvard sweatshirt as my other sweatshirts have writing on them which lends to a more casual look and that’s not what I was going for. A plain or simple patterned sweatshirt would work nicely here as well and I’ve linked some other options below too. Shoes are important in this formula too. You’ll want to pick something on the more formal side like a loafer, oxford or d’orsay flat - even a pump would work nicely. And of course I’ll never tell you that statement earrings are a bad idea.
