I’ve realized that my outfits generally fall into one of two categories: excessively neutral or a little extra. This one falls into the neutral category with all the black, but as with any of my neutral outfits, I add a little something fun in the way of a fun earring or, in this case, a bold lip + fur.

I love this outfit for a Valentine’s date night because a) it’s comfortable, b) it’s warm, and c) it’s not overtly valentinesy. Honestly, I’d probably wear this for any fancier date night in the winter. My favorite Madewell jeans have enough stretch for a good meal and this v-neck sweater is light enough not to sweat in a restaurant. Throw in these adorable flats and a fur vest and you’ve got yourself a nice outfit with very little effort - my favorite kind! I found these similar earrings to the ones I’m wearing here and as a public service I’d also like to tell you about these leopard flats that I can’t stop wearing and perfect for a Valentine’s outfit.

Full disclosure, the odds of me actually wearing this on Valentine’s Day are slim, but it’s a good option for our next date night. Since we did this Mexico trip, I’m going to guess we’ll be staying in for Valentine’s Day this year. Are you going out or staying in?
