This is your official warning that if you see me this summer, there’s a 75% chance I’ll be wearing this outfit. Don’t mess with a good thing, right? This gingham linen button-up is perfect for when it’s sweltering and I finally found a pair of shorts that doesn’t squeeze my thighs to death when I sit - praise be!
Read MoreThis linen jumpsuit is one of the most worn pieces in my closet. It’s my go-to for the warmer months and one of my best purchases. I could wax poetic about it but instead I decided to give you 5 reasons you should get a linen jumpsuit yourself - and I’ve included a few options at the bottom of this post!
Read MoreLet me tell you a tale of the greatest party ever. The fact that it was the best party ever is practically a miracle because let me tell you - wedding planning was not my forte. So all of the credit goes to the people who helped put it together - namely my mom. She made decisions when I didn’t want to and organized most everything. We also had AMAZING vendors. I mean LOOK AT THOSE FLOWERS! Here’s a little bit about our day and how everything came together.
Read MoreI put this outfit on and immediately loved the combo. It’s incredibly comfortable while still looking nice. It’s also easy to elevate with a swap of the sandals for a pair of espadrille heels or leopard flats. This black cardigan goes with just about anything, but is especially nice for this time of year when it’s not cold but not quite warm either.
Read MoreHave you ever heard of a power outfit? I’m not sure if it’s a thing or if I made it up, but similar to a power pose, a power outfit is something that makes you feel a little more powerful on a day when you need it. Recently I’ve been toying with the idea of power colors. When in doubt, I almost always fall back to black and white.
Read MoreAfter a week in palm springs, i’m ready to fully embrace warm weather style. It’s not quite warm enough in Raleigh just yet and half my clothes still need to be unpacked, but a girl can dream! I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what makes a killer wardrobe and I think the key ingredient is feeling awesome about every aspect - style, fit, comfort. This spring comfort is really calling my name and I want all the comfy pants! And no, that doesn’t only mean leggings and sneaks… What it does mean is:
Read MoreGiven that I had to pack a capsule-ish wardrobe for our 3 weeks of transition time during the moves, I went very neutral with my choices - mostly blacks, whites, tans, and a little blue here and there. These shoes and the top are two pieces I routinely grab when I can’t come up with another outfit. Since I had to narrow my wardrobe down to essentials, I ended up going with my tried and true favorites. Here are a few things that made the cut:
Read MoreI know that come March, most people are dying for winter to be over. I hate sitting in a waiting mentality though and so instead, I’ve decided this year to really embrace the cold weather style for the next month and then once March is over, I’ll let myself go whole hog into the warm weather attitude. This does two things: prevents me from sitting in the bad attitude of “I hate cold weather” and allows me to look at my clothing from a “what do I want to wear more of before I can’t wear it anymore.”
Read MoreI’ve realized that my outfits generally fall into one of two categories: excessively neutral or a little extra. This one falls into the neutral category with all the black, but as with any of my neutral outfits, I add a little something fun in the way of a fun earring or, in this case, bold lip + fur.
Read MoreIt’s almost here! Every year, I get the winter blues and I find the best way to help is to get away somewhere warm. This year, we’re headed to Tulum, Mexico and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s my first time in Mexico and I don’t speak a lick of Spanish, but I’m so ready for tequila, tacos and SUN. Packing for a warm weather trip in the middle of winter is a very strange thing, but I think the stark contrast makes it a little easier to identify your favorite summer items since it’s been so long since you’ve worn them. Here’s a look at what I’m packing…
Read MoreMy athleisure outfits are still going strong well into the winter months, but they does require a few adjustments to contend with the cold. I am a big fan of an oversized down vest because you can throw it over practically anything. It has big pockets so it's great for a wallet + phone combo for taking a walk or running errands. It's also warm so I can throw it on if I'm running to grab the mail or heading to the gym.
Read MoreIn keeping with the idea of finding something uplifting to mix up the January blahs, here’s a colorful outfit to get you through the colder months. It was actually sunny for a hot second while we were taking these pictures, which was amazing, but one of the reasons I love this sweater is because it’s super warm and comfortable. Warm + stripes + color + bell sleeves = the perfect sweater.
Read MoreNormally, I’m a Christmas decorations until January 1 type of person, but this year I went ahead and swapped out our bar cart before we came home for Christmas so it’s one less thing I have left to do when we get back. Originally, I was thinking about going with a buffalo plaid cocktail napkin and doing heavier decorations, but once I pulled out the champagne glasses and remembered my mini string lights, I knew a simple gold theme was in order.
Read MoreFor the holidays at our house, I’m usually in an elevated version of jeans + sweatshirt (aka jeans and a sweater) but I thought I’d show a few different holiday options styled with a black sweater ranging in levels of formality because who doesn’t already have a black sweater in their closet.
Read MoreSee, we used to have a litter box in our pantry, but when we redid our kitchen, the pantry didn’t exist any longer. I needed to figure out a solution for hiding the cat box because there was no way I was just going to leave it sitting on our floor and I really didn’t want to relocate it to one of our upstairs bathrooms, so I hatched a plan to include it with our half bath vanity.
Read MoreThere’s something about all the stuff you put in a room over time that can be mentally cluttering. Sometimes walking into a clean and clutter-free space is more relaxing and less mentally-taxing, but that’s not how I roll, so here is how I cope with being a borderline hoarder married to a minimalist.
Read MoreI think 70 percent of the items in my closet are solid colors and neutrals. I love a bold accent, but they pair nicely with neutrals and when I’m in a hurry to get out of the house, it’s nice to be able to throw together an easy outfit, which is exactly what you see here.
Read MoreEveryone says it’s important to get up and get dressed when working from home and I definitely agree, but it just feels pointless to put on a nice outfit just to walk upstairs and sit at my computer. But since I know the power of feeling good in what you’re wearing, I’ve come up with a few athleisure options that make me feel confident and comfortable at the same time.
