If you’re new around here and haven’t seen the other articles in the LOA series, check that out here. Today I want to talk about feeling the feelings of what you want. When it comes to law of attraction, a lot of people will teach you specific methods of manifesting, but I personally don’t think there’s enough emphasis put on feeling the feelings of what you want and it’s something that’s easy to forget.
Read MoreI love the color blue. Seb loves the color blue. And I really wanted to bring some color into the room without it being overwhelming. As you’ll see below, our master in the townhouse was a light blue. While I loved the color, I wanted something a little more understated for the new house.
Read MoreIf you’re in the self-improvement space at all, you’ll know that finding your “why” is a frequently discussed topic and most people would tell you that it’s crucial for living a purposeful life. It’s also maddening when everyone is saying “you need to figure it out and here’s how” and then you still can’t figure it out. I read articles and blog posts and books. I listened to podcasts and youtube videos. I really, truly wanted to find what would make me fulfilled, but it eluded me.
Read MoreAfter a week in palm springs, i’m ready to fully embrace warm weather style. It’s not quite warm enough in Raleigh just yet and half my clothes still need to be unpacked, but a girl can dream! I’ve been thinking a lot recently about what makes a killer wardrobe and I think the key ingredient is feeling awesome about every aspect - style, fit, comfort. This spring comfort is really calling my name and I want all the comfy pants! And no, that doesn’t only mean leggings and sneaks… What it does mean is:
Read MoreIf you read the blog regularly, you know that I’ve been excited about Alt Summit + Alison’s Brand School for months. In fact, the real reason I wanted to go to Alt was to attend Brand School (also, Palm Springs). It’s amazing what happens when you finally do something you’ve been called to do. I will say that my best day BY FAR was the day of Alison’s Brand School, but the experience of Alt Summit had a lot to offer as well. Here are my big takeaways and a little about how I’ll be moving forward with the business in the wake of this amazing week.
Read MoreOne of the things I sometimes get nervous about is that I come off as telling people how exactly to live their life. I have in the past been a very black + white person (sometimes I still am), but I’m realizing more and more that most everything is a little bit grey. I now get frustrated when people make sweeping assumptions about how something “should” be done. I don’t love the word should. And I don’t believe that there’s one right way to do anything. Here’s what I mean:
Read MoreAppropriately named for her most prominent feature, Brown Betty is our new home! She’s brown on the outside and brown on the inside – even the yard is kinda brown. While I’m not the #allwoodeverything type, I do appreciate her character and the beautiful wood used in her construction. This house needs LOVE. We didn’t have a washer/dryer or refrigerator at move in. The burners on the stove work but not the oven. The dishwasher is questionable enough that we’re afraid to use it. The carpet is original to the house and there are plenty of things that don’t work the way they should, but WE’RE IN LOVE.
Read MoreGiven that I had to pack a capsule-ish wardrobe for our 3 weeks of transition time during the moves, I went very neutral with my choices - mostly blacks, whites, tans, and a little blue here and there. These shoes and the top are two pieces I routinely grab when I can’t come up with another outfit. Since I had to narrow my wardrobe down to essentials, I ended up going with my tried and true favorites. Here are a few things that made the cut:
Read MoreLooking through these photos was a little bittersweet! I’m currently knee deep in daydreams about what my new office is going to look like once it’s finished, but until that happens, let’s take a look at the old one!
Read MoreI’m so happy to see the first day of Spring! It might not feel like Spring this week, but I can tell it’s coming and I definitely feel like I’ve been spring cleaning over here. When I was making a gratitude list recently, I thought about a few of the seemingly trivial things that I really love and felt needed to be shared, so here they are!
Read MoreI’m following up on my packing tips post with some thoughts on unpacking and organizing. Our process was a little different since we moved out of our townhouse into storage unit before moving into our new home. But here are a few things I’ve learned about the dealing with the fallout after a move…
Read MoreThis story is such an odd one to tell – and one I never intended to. Our lake house is just a tiny, old thing in the woods, but we LOVE it and it’s home. It was built in the 80s and hasn’t had much of anything besides paint in the way of upgrades. Unfortunately, practically the whole thing was covered in carpet (even the bathrooms – ew) and it was a very nasty shade of tan. Oh and everything else was tan/brown too – walls, toilets, vanities, countertops. We gave it our best, but there’s only so much you can do with paint. It never mattered much to us though because we spend so much of our time outside on the dock or the screened in porch while we’re there. But….
Read MoreSo I told you the story about manifesting a bunch of money by selling our townhouse, but what I didn’t tell you was that we ended up making about $75,000! What?? It was crazy town and I want to share the love and tell you exactly why I truly believe it was a manifestation and not just happenstance.
Read MoreI don’t think anyone who truly knows me will be surprised about this, but I have fallen in love with overalls. I knew it was bound to happen. My dad’s signature style is overalls. You know, the legit pointer brand ones that look like you should be working on the railroad. And they’re just so fun! But when they first came back in style, I looked and looked for the right pair and didn’t have much luck. Then I saw these. I asked for them for Christmas. And it’s true love, y’all. They’re so comfortable and practical. That front pocket is the best – it fits my phone perfectly. Also, THEY’RE FREAKING CUTE. I mean there’s about 1 million ways to style them (maybe a post for another day?), they work for all types of weather, they are practical, and they’re stylish. What’s not to love?
Read MoreI feel like so much has changed since I wrote last month’s update post. I manifested a crazy amount of money with the sale of our townhouse, we’re all packed up and moved into storage, and my mind is filled with design plans for our new fixer upper.
Read MoreI’m no expert at moving, but I legitimately love this type of organization/logistical puzzle. Don’t ask me to coordinate a social event, but if you want to know what order you should pack your house in, call me. Some of these may be common knowledge, but here are a few things I’ve loved + learned from this moving process.
Read MoreI know that come March, most people are dying for winter to be over. I hate sitting in a waiting mentality though and so instead, I’ve decided this year to really embrace the cold weather style for the next month and then once March is over, I’ll let myself go whole hog into the warm weather attitude. This does two things: prevents me from sitting in the bad attitude of “I hate cold weather” and allows me to look at my clothing from a “what do I want to wear more of before I can’t wear it anymore.”
Read MoreThere’s this thing called Scarcity Mentality and I hate it because it breeds fear. It tells you that there’s only so much of something and that if someone else has what you want, there’s less of it available for you. If someone else has success, there’s less for you. If someone else has money, there’s less for you. If someone else has love, there’s less for you.
